the design of this website is largely based on this one time i had randomly clicked onto a website before it had loaded any of it's CSS elements. it loaded in this list like fashion that i found quite fascinating. I had a fun time just clicking onto the images and it bringing me to a new page with just the image and file name. i realized that this was a great way to disseminate information in the fastest and most practical way possible. a word i have tossed around a lot recently is "utilitarian", the utility of something shaping it's visual language and aesthetic. aesthetic has evolved to have a vapid connotation so imagine i said the word style there. another website that was a big inspiration for me was actually a website aggregator called https://1mb.club/ that collects all of the websites on the www that are 1 megabyte in size or less. i liked how not only could these websites display information in a clear and concise way, but that it's lightweight nature made it load faster and consume less power. the website that first sparked this initial interest in low energy consumption was the aptly named https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com which is a blog about low-technology, often covering older forms of technology that can still be effective. this site was another great example of how it's utility, for example using fast loading one color dithered images, shaped it's visual language and style.
